Last Thursday was our first orchestra concert of the year, we did great. We played these songs: Dreidle, Jingle Bells, Frère Jacques, French Folk Song, Lightly Row, Can Can, Rigadoon, and Ode to Joy. It was a very short concert, only about 30 minutes long but it was still really cool. I wore a white tuxedo shirt, black dress pants, black dress shoes, black socks, a blue bow-tie, and blue cummerbund. I thought we played very well and I think next concert will be equally as fun.
Last week we finished our first TAG unit. We were doing Famous Artists and I got M.C. Escher. I really like that artist so I was glad I got him. We had to do a presentation on our artists so I chose to present mine with a timeline, map, and clay model. Here are some of the facts I put on my map.
1. M.C. Escher was born in Leeuwarden, Netherlands.
2. He found and married his wife Jetta in Viaggio, Italy
3. He lived with his wife Jetta for a long time in Rome, Italy.
4. M.C. Escher was buried in Urtrecht, Netherlands.
Those were some of my map facts, and these are some important events that happen in his time.
1914-1918 World War I started and ended.
1939-1945 World War II started and ended
1963 John F. Kennedy was assassinated
Those were some important events that happened in his timeline. I also made a clay model.
I can’t show you the picture because it is at school, but I can tell you about it. I made a Torpedo Fish because M.C. Escher made combined thing like a Torpedo and a Fish. He also made optical illusions like a infinite stair way or water going a tube. He also made things like a glass ball with a reflection of a room in it. This is the glass ball. \/
That was kinda what my presentation was like. I hope you enjoy this article. Bye!
Everyone knows that when one becomes addicted to something, it can be very hard to quit. Not many people know, however, that most of the symptoms of addiction are caused by physical factors, as opposed to psychological, as most believe. Addiction is the process of the brain getting used to certain uncommon chemicals. When these chemicals are absent, the brain thinks something is wrong. (Redish, 2004) Every drug a person can become addicted to gives off a different chemical and thus has a different effect on the body. The bottom line, however, stays the same: you are addicted not because of your conscious choice, but because certain processes are occurring in your brain. “The majority of the biomedical community now considers addiction, in its essence, to be a brain disease: a condition caused by persistent changes in brain structure and function.” (Leshner, 2001) Addiction, withdrawal, and quitting all have dominant physical factors. In order to understand the big picture when it comes to the physical effects of addiction one must look at how it works, what it is, and only then can effective treatments be developed.
Two Fridays ago (Black Friday) we saw an amazing deal on amazon, a PlayStation 3 with two games (LittleBigPlanet 2 and Ratchet and Clank: All 4 One), a controller, and a month of free PlayStation Live.We immediately ordered it with 2 other controller and another game. After a couple of days we finally got it and quickly got everything working (except the HDMI cable which we got two days later). The first game we played was LittleBigPlanet 2 because it was 3 player. This is a hilarious game were you have to race through levels while collecting bubbles for score and bubbles to get new costumes to wear, stickers to decorate, and object to be placed in your own levels. You can also dress up your sackboy (that is your character) with funny costumes. My sackboy has golden swirly skin and a little red fez on top of his head. This is the only game I have actually played on the PS3. But I still love it!
How does he do it?
